Dedza Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a violent armed robbery that netted thieves approximately K47 million earlier this year.

The suspects identified as Vincent Damiano, Edward Moffat, and Edward Yona were detained following investigations into the January incident at Kapesi Village in Traditional Authority Kachere.

Authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle along with six rounds of ammunition believed to have been used in the heist.

Police investigators indicate that the seized firearm could also be linked to the brutal September 2025 murder of local businessman Victor Anthony Biyeni. Biyeni was attacked in his home at Mandala Village in Traditional Authority Kamenyagwaza while asleep with his wife. At the time, police launched a manhunt for the unknown assailants.

Further forensic and ballistic tests are ongoing to establish any definitive connections between the recovered weapon and the murder case.

The three suspects are expected to make their first court appearance soon, where they will face formal charges related to the robbery. Police have urged members of the public with additional information to come forward as investigations continue.
